Western Treatment Plant Sludge Pan Renewal

Customer:

Melbourne Water undertook a significant renewal of a section of its sludge drying pans at the 10,500-hectare Western Treatment Plant (WTP), a facility responsible for treating over half of Melbourne’s wastewater and supporting Melbourne’s sustainable growth. Through recommendation, Lofts were contracted to supply 26,000 tonnes of VicRoads-approved 20mm Class 3, 3% Cement Treated Crushed Concrete (CTCC) within 6.5 weeks for pans 1 and 2. However, after doubling the expected daily volumes and proving our reliable service and swift responsiveness, Melbourne Water entrusted us also to supply pans 3 and 4 and pans 23 and 24. Over three stages, we delivered nearly 80,000 tonnes, maintaining strict quality standards and keeping the project ahead of schedule, cementing our reputation as a trusted partner.

Lynbrook & Heatherton Depot Supply Contract

Customer:

In 2013, we successfully tendered and secured a contract with South East Water to supply circa 18,000 tonnes to their depots at Lynbrook and Heatherton with materials for their local works. Over the subsequent years, we ensured that these depots consistently received a reliable supply of 20mm Class 2 Crushed Rock, topsoil, and WSA-approved embedment sand.

Given the critical importance of uninterrupted supply, our reliability made us the perfect supplier for this contract. South East Water expressed high satisfaction with our efforts to deliver materials promptly and to go above and beyond in providing urgent deliveries when unforeseen needs arose.

HMAS Cerberus Redevelopment

Customer: Various

In support of the HMAS Cerberus Redevelopment at Crib Point, Victoria, we played a key role by supplying and delivering essential materials to various customers, including plumbers and civil contractors. Located 75 kilometres southeast of Melbourne, HMAS Cerberus required continuous support, which we effectively delivered throughout the project. Our efforts significantly contributed to the advancement of this critical naval training establishment.

Gas & Fuel Contract

Customer: Gas & Fuel Corporation

From approximately 1982 to 1996, we successfully supplied Gas & Fuel Corporation with essential quarry products under annual contracts. Lofts, alongside other industry players, successfully tendered and secured a portion of these works.

The contract was structured to ensure a steady supply by awarding it to first, second, and third-choice suppliers. We supplied approximately 40% of the contract quantities in the first year. However, this gradually increased to over 60% in subsequent years due to our commitment to compliance, reliability, integrity, and service.

Deliveries were made to various Gas & Fuel depots across Metropolitan Melbourne, including Tooronga, Essendon, Vermont, Epping, Pasco Vale, and Nunawading depots and directly to street job sites. These sites required the delivery of raw materials such as 20mm Class 2 Crushed Rock, 20mm Class 3 Crushed Rock, 20mm A & B-grade Crushed Rock, A-Grade Bedding Sand, and Topsoil. The average annual volumes were substantial, including approximately 100,000 tonnes of crushed rock, 40,000 tonnes of bedding sand, and 45,000 cubic meters of topsoil. Additionally, the project required the removal of approximately 35,000 cubic meters of spoil from Gas & Fuel depots, which we also facilitated and disposed of at various tip sites around Melbourne.

This was the company’s first large-scale project, setting the standard for the industry’s expectations when working with Lofts.

Melbourne Water Depot Supply

Customer:

Through the 80s and 90s, parallel to the Gas & Fuel contract, we also had an annual supply contract with Melbourne Water to supply 20mm Class 2 Crushed Rock, 20mm Class 3 Crushed Rock, Bedding Sand, and topsoil to their Melbourne depots, such as Mitcham, Moorabbin, and Dandenong depots.

At a later stage, Thiess Contractors was awarded the contract to do all the works for Melbourne Water. After experiencing our service and reliability over the years, Melbourne Water recommended us to Thiess, and we continued supplying materials for the remaining works.

Each year, we delivered approximately 20,000 tonnes of crushed rock and an average of 80,000m3 of topsoil to help complete these works.

HM Prison Barwon

Customer: Various

From 2021-2023, we supplied over 10,000 tonnes of 20mm Class 3 VicRoads Approved Crushed Rock, 5mm Dust, and 7mm Rock Aggregate to the HM Prison Barwon for various subcontractors and builders. As a correctional facility, security was of the utmost importance. There were strict site rules and rigorous delivery and supplier requirements. This included, sign-ins and outs, extended waiting time, driver inductions and documentation, very high product quality standards and transparent reporting.

To facilitate the project and ensure customer satisfaction, we assigned an operations member as the primary contact for all deliveries to site, and the senior management team monitored deliveries closely, including driver and product adherence. Our experience and success on this project, cemented our reputation as a trusted partner for correctional and secure sites
